Forget what you thought you knew about Jennie Kim’s style, because it seems the Blackpink star is heading in a new sartorial direction. If her latest look is anything to go by, then the just turned 25-year-old is ready to introduce the world to Jennie’s Wardrobe 2.0.
On 18 February, the idol appeared on her Instagram feed in an outfit with a tougher, more severe aesthetic than the sweet pastels we’re used to seeing her in. In place of a lime cardigan or a bow-detail blouse, Jennie opted for an all-black palette that hints at a new style era.

Jennie wore the outfit for a visit to the yet-to-open Gentle Monster flagship store in the Dosan area of Seoul, and so it made sense that the idol – and longtime friend of the sunglasses brand – should opt for a chic pair of blackout frames to complete her fresh look.
As ever though, Jennie’s look nodded to catwalk trends. Wrap-around sandals that tie up the leg are set to be big news this summer, and are Jennie’s outfit’s most striking talking point. Elsewhere, we loved how she clashed textures, the leather of her shirt juxtaposed with the pinstripe fabric of her micro mini skirt. The look was a clear nod to the trending styles of the Y2K era, and she also shared photos of her Noughties nails – an extra-long metallic manicure – to match.
