Cooper: Some of our favorite videos are the bloopers reels we post with every new drag look. Something about having five pounds of makeup on, a tight wig, and wearing 6-inch heels while setting up lights and cameras can bring out our crazy.
Luca: We’ll be in the middle of filming and start yelling at each other over something so silly and immediately start laughing because we realize how hilarious and ridiculous we look.
Where do you guys find pieces for your drag looks?
Cooper: We actually get most of our pieces from thrifting and Depop. Sugar and Spice aren’t exactly the classiest of ladies, so we have to customize all of our outfits to make everything shorter and tighter.
Luca: Safety pins and a hot glue gun are the “everything nice” to our Sugar and Spice at the moment!
What’s the most special piece in your wardrobe?
Luca: Honestly, our wigs. We’re both extremely passionate about hairstyling and creating intricate, unique styles that take inspiration from the funky Y2K era of hair. We’re such perfectionists, so we treat them as our little works of art, and they’re really special to us. You can say years of styling our doll’s hair have finally paid off!
What does your style look like out of drag?
Cooper: Our true goal in life is to look like teen fashion dolls in drag, so out of drag, it’s pretty much the same. We’re obsessed with men’s fashion from the late ’90s and early 2000s. Baggy pants, crop tops, messenger bags, and brands like Ed Hardy and Von Dutch are right up our alley.
Is it hard to keep up with all of TikTok’s different trends?
Cooper: We didn’t start to take off on TikTok until we did our own thing and started to create our own trends that were true to us, instead of following them.
Luca: Our favorite series on our page is the “Twin Style Battle” where we document how we come up with our looks, and then let our fans decide which twin has the better hair, makeup, and outfit. We love some friendly competition!
Are you seeing the drag community grow on TikTok?
Cooper: When we first started, we were pretty much the only drag queens in a sea of male beauty influencers, so we definitely stood out. Never in a million years did we think TikTok could be a profitable career for us. It was just unheard of at the time. More and more, we’re seeing amazing drag artists pop up on our For You page, so that’s been amazing.
Luca: It’s so important for us to represent the art of drag. Shockingly, a lot of our younger audience doesn’t even know the difference between a drag queen and a trans person. That’s why we love making our educational videos about the LGBTQ community while serving looks. You gotta catch their eye first, so they’ll stop and listen to the message.
What’s your favorite TikTok of all time? And which one took you the longest?
Cooper: I would have to say our “wipe it down” challenge video which landed us in TikTok’s first national commercial this past fall. From TikTok to television! Who knew.
Luca: That was our first video to really go viral, and introduce Sugar and Spice’s crazy bimbo selves to the world. The rest is history!
