BEAR, Del. (CBS) — A gunman is on the loose after a shooting at a Delaware cemetery. Delaware State Police are investigating an active shooter situation after gunfire erupted at Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Bear on Friday morning.
New Castle County police are asking residents in the area to shelter-in-place.
Reports of the shooting came in around 10:15 a.m.
According to state police, at least one person was taken to the hospital. Their condition is not known at this time.

Although not confirmed by police, local residents say a person ran into the woods after the shooter.
Gov. John Carney says a perimeter has been established around where the shooter is and called the shooting “heartbreaking.”
“Really sad news to think of that kind of event in what is sacred ground for the men and women who served our country,” Carney said.
As Delaware State and New Castle County Police conduct their investigation and search for the shooter, Summit Bridge Road is closed at Bethel Church Road.
Shelter-in-place orders have also been issued for Brennan Estates, a housing development not far from the cemetery.
