SHEIN is a fashion site that has grown immensely over the past few years as college students and everyone else balling on a budget have, over time, become familiar with the brand.
Although SHEIN is indeed a perpetrator of fast fashion, millions continue to support it. TikTokers and vloggers alike often buy items in bulk due to how cheap the prices truly are. By posting hauls and reviews, their followers are able to decide for themselves if they too want to support and shop SHEIN.
I’m not saying fast fashion is necessarily the most moral of options, but it is undeniably cheap as many of the staple pieces mimic trends straight from the runway and additionally, higher-priced items from stores like Princess Polly, Jaded London and more.
With that being said, I too splurged and spent a total of $136.13, including shipping and the discount code ‘new2021’ on 14 items (11 are pictured). A pretty good deal if you ask me. So you may be wondering, how did every piece fit? Were the items of quality, and if so, would I shop again? Don’t fret. I am here to dish all of the details on every last item I bought and provide information on sizing, pricing and more.
SHEIN Letter and Tower Print Rib-knit Cami Top
Size XS $5
The first item on the list is easily my favorite. You can’t go wrong with a basic tank, and what cuter than a Chinese food box graphic? Priced at only $5, the top is a steal. As an XS, it is obviously pretty teeny and cropped, so if you have a longer torso, it might fit more like a sports bra rather than a full coverage shirt.
But if you don’t, definitely invest in buying it. On the quality side of things, it is decently thin and seemed to pick up the red coloring of my jacket I wore over top, but luckily, the washer fixed that problem.
Collared Buttoned Front Buffalo Plaid Jacket
Size S $17
I bought this plaid jacket solely to wear with the tank top I reviewed prior, and I’m so glad I did. I am always in need of more cute jackets to pair with my short sleeve tops and tanks in the winter season, and this one is definitely that. The two worn together are chic and match perfectly. On top of that, this jacket is so soft. Literally, so soft, which is easily the selling feature of this jacket.
However, like I said before, the coloring rubbed off on the tank slightly which is the only negative. I also own many other furry plaid jackets that were much more expensive, and I will say, I can spot a difference between the quality of this cheaper priced one, and those that are about three to four times that amount.
Tie-Dye Lace-Up Back Halter Top
Size S $7
The picture of this halter, lace-up, cowl neck tie-dye top speaks for itself. It’s sassy and unique. It comes in green, purple and blue. I bought it in green and had high hopes for it, but was slightly disappointed by the actual product. Though I will still wear it, the material is swimsuit-like and the cowl neck sits slightly awkward. Overall, it will likely still elicit compliments for its sheer cool factor, but it is not a necessity.
SHEIN Lace-up Open Back Cowl Neck Satin Top
Size S $5
Can you tell I like this style of shirt? Burnt orange is everyone’s color. Swear. And unlike the previous, this satin cowl neck lace-up is less awkward in the way it lays and fits perfectly, as the strings allow for the customer to adjust it to their liking. I’ll definitely be pulling this one out in the warmer months to show off the open back and my summer tan.
SHEIN Drop Shoulder Buttoned Front Flap Pocket Patched Cord Jacket
Size XS $22
In major need for a jacket that will look good worn atop any shirt? This is the solution to your problem. Everyone has to have a versatile black jacket. Again, it is not that nice, so if you’re looking for a jacket to keep you warm, this is not that, but it is a perfect light, going-out, jacket suitable for multiple occasions. Most quality corduroy jackets are going to be much more expensive, so pick and choose your battles on what you’re willing to sacrifice.
Side Drawstring Crop Tank Top
Size XS $8
Let me start off by saying I love this cropped tank. Beige and drawstrings are in right now, so naturally, this top is too. This one actually feels a bit nicer than some others. Although undoubtedly still thin, it’s thick enough that one does not need to wear anything underneath and it is adorable, to say the least. What is also nice, is that one can adjust the drawstrings to make the tank as cropped or not cropped as one prefers. This is definitely a staple in my closet now.
SHEIN Lettuce Trim Seam Front Floral Mesh Cami Top
Size XS $5
Yes, this does look like a shirt I would have begged my mom to buy me from Limited Too back in the day. Does anyone else remember that store? No. Just me? Okay. Anyways, when I saw this was only $5, I didn’t hesitate to add it to my cart. It is an early 2000s inspired shirt, and the pink is so vibrant, it was calling my name. It also comes in green, purple and blue, and I may be adding another to my closet very soon.
Though the picture kind of shows just how see-through it truly is, I was still taken aback by that aspect. Make sure to wear something — anything really — underneath, unless it’s your thing not to. Overall though, I really love it and it makes me feel incredibly girlish.
Transparent Hair Claw Clip
Two pieces for $2
There’s not much to say about these, other than they are useful and stylish. They have a great grip and are excellent for long hair. I’ve worn them practically every day since I got them. We love a good claw clip.
SHEIN Flap Pocket Front Teddy Crop Jacket
Size XS $25
First off, this jacket is incredibly cropped, but chic. Not going to lie, the material is a little odd feeling, but just like the black jacket, I was in deep need for a neutral-colored throw over for all of the beiges and browns I currently have in my closet. Though I wish it would open up slightly more to showcase whatever I am wearing underneath, it gets the job done and is perfect for multiple happenings.
Button-Front Fuzzy Knit Cardigan With Cami
Size S $25
Although a slightly more expensive item on the list, it’s truly two for the price of one. Monochromatic outfits are all the rage, along with Y2K-inspired fits, and this is both of those. The cami paired with the cardigan screams cute and it’s fuzzy.
As it comes in several other colors, and I will absolutely be buying another. The buttons are leopard patterned as well. How adorable? I can’t stress enough how much I love this duo. The first time I wore it out and about, my waitress complimented me. It was the perfect pick for a nice dinner out with friends.
Mock Neck Tied Backless Zebra Stripe Crop Tee
Size XS $9
I messed up here by purchasing a size XS. Unfortunately, it just does not fit me right, despite being so chic. The material is definitely lighter and cheaper than most, so it’s not too much of a loss. I am also not a fan of how deep the shirt cuts into the side. It’s a little too much skin for comfort. Will I still wear it? Probably.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and happy with my items and probably will shop here again, especially this summer, considering every swimsuit I own is from here. It doesn’t go without saying though, that there are much better, more ethically right and environmentally friendly options, just at a higher price.
