Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez is one match away from being a World Cup winner after watching Argentina book their place in the 2022 Qatar showpiece.
Martinez, 24, was surprisingly omitted from the starting XI against Croatia on Tuesday night. However, that call did not cost the South Americans as they strolled through 3-0 at the Lusail Stadium.
He could be joined there by United teammate Raphael Varane who is in semi-final action tonight. It comes as their manager, Erik ten Hag, has one eye on the January transfer window.
After being appointed this summer, Ten Hag welcomed Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Argentina player Martinez, Antony and Casemiro to Old Trafford on permanent deals. Martin Dubravka was also signed on loan.
But how many will follow them during the mid-season window? Cody Gakpo, Frenkie de Jong and Jude Bellingham are names currently doing the rounds, along with Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos.
