United returned to winning ways last weekend with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Everton thanks to goals from Antony and Cristiano Ronaldo. The momentum isn’t quite what it could have been though as it took Erik ten Hag’s side 93 minutes to finally break down Omonia Nicosia at Old Trafford in the Europa League on Thursday.
Scott McTominay grabbed the goal to save United’s blushes and now they welcome an in-form Newcastle to Manchester.
The good news for United is that Anthony Martial could return for the match.
“Anthony Martial can be but we have to wait to see how he develops in the coming hours,” United manager Ten Hag said of the forward. “Harry Maguire will not make this [game] but it doesn’t take long, I think. I think next week he’ll be back in team training or over [the] next week.”
