WHY spend over $80 on a sweatshirt when you can get the same quality for cheaper?
One experienced shopper says you don’t have to drain your bank account to look expensive.
Dedicated fashionista Rachel Spencer swears by her tips and tricks that achieve that “clean-girl” style.
Rachel posted a video explaining everything you need in your wardrobe to look timeless and put together, and you can get much of it from Gap and Amazon.
“Tip number one: find dupes or pieces you love,” she says.
Even as an Aritzia fan herself, Rachel has found similar items for way less that are worth purchasing over the actual ones.
Rachel takes viewers with her as she goes shopping at the mall.
Between Aritzia’s Flores Blazer for $228 and The Ganna Shirt Jacket for $198, Gap had almost identical style items for a fraction of their sale price.
Gap’s Linen-Cotton Oversized Blazer is on sale for $84.99, while their Oversized Khaki Shirt Jacket with Washwell is $119.95.
According to Rachel, the best way to find sales going on at any time is through the Karma app.
The app gives you the ability to search through discounts and apply them before making a purchase.
Besides Gap, Rachel suggests shopping for dupes at Uniqlo.
Packed with the best basics, one of Uniqlo’s Premium Linen Long-Sleeve Shirts for $39.90 and the $1.99 nylon Round Mini Shoulder Bag will easily make you look chic, in Rachel’s opinion.
Other places to look for solid, affordable basics are Garage, Walmart, and Princess Polly.
“Walmart just has such good basics that Aritzia or any of those other stores could be selling for a bajillion dollars,” Rachel admits.
For a simple everyday white tank, Rachel is obsessed with Walmart’s George Men’s A-Shirts.
You can get a pack of 6 for $15.98 and cut them to the length you want.
Princess Polly’s Holly Asymmetric Striaght Leg Jean Light Wash Denim looks expensive but is only $76 for a pair of denim pants compared to the Agolde Criss Cross Straight Jean for $208.
A simple black sunnies can elevate any look, and on Amazon, you don’t have to spend more than $22.
“Sunglasses I don’t like to spend a lot of money on. I lose my sunglasses and break them a lot, so something like this is just better for me,” Rachel says.
Classics like aviators and 90’s style rectangle glasses won’t cost you a fortune but will make you look like one.
“All of these are going to stand the test of time,” she believes.
Subtle, plain, woven handbags always look like they could be designer made even when they’re not.
Rachel loves her KingTo Woven Crossbody Handbag Purse for $49.50 and Hobo Bag Dumpling Woven bag for $32.99.
To get even larger discounts on clothes, thrifting is key.
Buying an oversized blazer, vintage denim, silk camis, heeled sandals, crewnecks, black nylon shoulder bags, and slip dresses can all easily be found when you go thrift shopping.
“The other thing I like thrifting is trendy pieces. It’s really really tempting to just buy something like that. You’re going to want to check the thrift because fashion is obviously cyclical,” Rachel says.
If you’re wanting to purchase a designer bag, Rachel believes the best way to do so affordably is to check eBay or other consignment stores.
You can never go wrong with a simple, chic look, and Rachel’s viewers were more than pleased to know there are inexpensive options.

Complementing Rachel’s taste, one follower commented: “Love what you picked from the sale. They all look classy and timeless also love how you style the tone on tone color!”
“Great finds!!!! I’m glad I found your channel,” another wrote.
