THE WOODS — Many modern studies show that spending time in nature is good for any human’s mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.
Stressed? Get back to nature. High blood pressure? Get back to nature. At risk of heart disease? Get back to nature (according to this study).
But there is another school of thought held by at least one person, and it’s a theory of “if you don’t go into nature, nature can’t kill you.”
Inclement weather, losing the trail, wild animals and other unpredictable variables are all risks you take when spending time in nature. As an example, please consider the following scenario:
1. You pack up your truck equipped with a shell to keep all your gear safe and dry while traveling.
2. You unpack your camp and keep your food in the truck because wild animals like to sniff out and eat food wherever they can find it.
3. You go on a hike because that’s what you do in nature, but you forget to double-check that your truck shell is closed.
4. You return from your hike and realize there is a… frightening noise coming from the back of your truck.
5. You realize there is a bear — A BEAR — in the back of your truck and the shell door has closed, trapping inside a creature that can kill you in an instant.
As you will see in this featured video, that’s just what happened to some campers who were trying to enjoy some time in nature. Luckily, they figured out a way to release the bear, which happened to be so glad to be out that it didn’t give the humans even a first glance as consideration for its second breakfast.
It’s a camping adventure these people won’t soon forget. However, as far as one person is concerned (this writer, if you haven’t figured that out), this is reason number 104,026 to stay enjoy life from the comfort of your own couch.
