Whyte Rushen provides yet another exciting drop on Depop creator Simon Beckerman’s new food marketplace app.
For years now Depop has been connecting clothes-loving shoppers with forward-thinking garment sellers. You can never devour too many y2k tees or hand-crafted, upcycled items, and new app DELLI, co-founded by Depop creator Simon Beckerman, lets you experience the fashion institution’s community ethos in the culinary space – now with added London food pop-up extraordinaire Whyte Rushen’s scintillating burger sauce!
DELLI, the mobile food marketplace, is open to all food lovers and sellers. The app offers the space for anyone passionate about making food to share it, from the student who’s a dab hand in the kitchen, to working parents looking to make some extra cash, and not forgetting, the many people who started home-based cake businesses in recent years. But if whisking, frying or even just turning on the oven terrifies you, fear not, as you can simply indulge in the endless eating opportunities the app provides.
“DELLI is much more than an app that talks about ingredients and shifts products” Beckerman, who co-founded the app along with Marie Petrovicka, said. “DELLI is about people. And connecting us to different cultures. Yes the products have to taste delicious, but we take pride in giving our makers a platform to share their stories and their heritage alongside their products. Community first and foremost.”
The app uses the ‘drop’ model that is commonplace in fashion. This is hoped to allow smaller sellers to overcome regular hurdles like managing food waste, as well as cash and ingredient flow. So far, 2022 has seen drops from Dr Sting’s, MOMO Kombucha x GANNI, Maya’s Bakehouse, Kold Sauce Kold Smoke, and Sonora tortillas, the latter sold out in a mere 8 minutes. London-inspired chef, Whyte Rushen’s sumptuous burger sauce is one of several still to hit the app in 2022 – head below to see pictures of him cooking up his holy potion in the kitchen.
You can download DELLI now, or if you’re in London, enter food-heaven in the flesh on weekends at Dalston’s Allpress courtyard, between 11am-4pm throughout August.
