With 16,167 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India’s tally of COVID-19 cases has risen to 4,41,61,899 while the active cases have increased to 1,35,510, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.
The death count has climbed to 5,26,730 with 41 fatalities which includes eight deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data stated.
The active cases comprise 0.31 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.50 per cent, the ministry said.
An increase of 140 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 5.02 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 4.63 per cent, according to the ministry.

Odisha’s COVID-19 tally rose to 13,19,527 on Monday as 652 more people, including 132 children, tested positive for the infection, while one more fatality pushed the toll to 9,149, a bulletin by the health department said.
Odisha now has 5,798 active cases, of which 1,357 are in Sundargarh.
As many as 704 more people were cured of the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 13,04,527.
Mizoram reported 64 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, 84 less than the previous day, as the tally rose to 2,34,144, a health department official said. The death toll remained unchanged at 711, he said.
The northeastern state now has 1,239 active cases, while 2,32,194 people have recovered from the disease so far.
Mizoram’s daily positivity rate stood at 26.34 per cent.
Puducherry witnessed a further decline in fresh COVID-19 cases with 23 people infected by the virus on Monday. Of the Union Territory’s four regions, Karaikal registered the maximum with 12 cases followed by Puducherry with eight, and Yanam three.
Mahe, an enclave of Puducherry in Kerala, did not report any fresh case, Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a press release. The UT had reported 59 cases on Sunday.
Mr Sriramulu said the 23 fresh cases surfaced during examination of 1,154 samples in the last 24 hours.
Assam reported 39 more COVID-19 cases, raising the tally on Monday to 7,41,541, according to a bulletin by National Health Mission (NHM). No new death was reported due to the disease in the last three days with the toll remaining unchanged at 6,673, the bulletin said.
Another 1,347 COVID-19 patients have died due to other reasons since April, 2020.
Kamrup Metro recorded eight new cases, followed by six in Dibrugarh, five each in Cachar and Kamrup Rural and four in Sivasagar.
Assam currently has 4,006 active cases As many as 28,582,444 samples have been tested in the state so far.

Maharashtra’s Thane district has reported 169 new COVID-19 cases, taking its infection count to 7,35,293, a health official said on Monday. With the addition of the latest cases on Sunday, the district currently has 1,009 active COVID-19 cases as compared to 925 the previous day, he said.
There was no report of any death on Sunday and the COVID-19 fatality count in the district stood at 11,931.
