As spring (and vaccines) arrives, we are all eager to venture outside, but have we stopped to think about what that means to the wardrobe we’ve been curating during the pandemic? Our sweatpants! Our leggings! Our socks and sandals combos! Our safety hoodies! Well, actually, that was a trick question. Since it’s been a full year, that means absolutely nothing has to change when it comes to the clothing pieces you’ve become attached to. You can still go out with your sweatpants, flared leggings are absolutely welcome outside, and let’s not forget your shoe and sock combo of choice.
During the first half of this panini, we saw loafers and socks take over but now there’s another shoe in town – and if you’ve grown emotionally attached to your indoor slippers, you’ll love it. We’re talking about clogs and mules (also with socks, of course.)
If you’re still haven’t gotten a pedicure since last year, your clogs and mules of choice will have you covered. They’re like the off-the-shoulder blouse of shoes, or the crop top if you will. You show the perfect amount of skin to bask in the spring weather without feeling overly exposed to the cold winds that still creep through. This pairing has everything you want from a comfortable shoe that will actually make you feel put together. Plus, brands like UGG, Hunter Boots, and Free People (and of course, Crocs) offer different options that will fit your aesthetic (and budget) perfectly. For example, thanks to Bottega Veneta’s infamous Polly Pocket-esque clogs, we’re team plastic clog. One of the Teen Vogue editors swears by the Sloggers pair you can find via Amazon.
With a pair of clogs and socks to take us all through it, we can’t wait to act like we have to stroll to the farmers market at 10 A.M., tend our garden at 1 P.M., and have our afternoon coffee at 3 P.M.
