Here are updates about coronavirus cases in Brevard, according to the Florida Department of Health, as of May 30, 2020.
Brevard registered 11 new coronavirus cases, for a total of 420 people testing positive since the pandemic, according to Saturday afternoon’s state Department of Health data.
No new deaths were reported. In all, Brevard lost 12 people to the coronavirus, and victims ranged in age from 73 to 94 years old.
According to County Commissioner Curt Smith, as of 8 a.m. Friday, there were a total of six hospitalized COVID-19 cases in Brevard with three of those on ventilators. Also, he added, there were 944 tests on patients with a positivity rate of 0.6%.
The DOH always cautions that its data is provisional and subject to change.

The Brevard cases involve 409 residents and 11 non-residents. They range in age from 1 to 99 with a median age of 53. Of the Brevard residents, 189 are men and 220 female.
The county has seen 61 hospitalizations. It’s important to note that number does not refer to people currently hospitalized; instead, it’s people who sought hospital treatment at some point.
The state DOH does not provide a count of people recovered.

The number of cases in Florida as of Saturday afternoon was 55,424, up 927 from the previous day and 2,447 deaths, an increase of 34 deaths from the previous day, FDOH data show. In total, 995,886 people have been tested with 55,424 positive and 939,544 negative, or 5.6% testing positive. There also have been 10,113 hospitalizations in Florida since the pandemic began.
Brevard has tested 22,474 people, with 420 testing positive and 22,052 testing negative. The county’s percent positive is 1.9%. The state DOH does not provide a count of people recovered.
