Oregon reported a modest bump in coronavirus cases to end February, ending three consecutive weeks of significant declines.
The state recorded 2,652 confirmed or presumed infections for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 28, up 17% from the previous week.
But the earlier week’s case counts were extremely low amid a huge drop in testing during an ice and snowstorm, making meaningful comparisons challenging. The share of positive tests ticked up slightly last week, by two-tenths of a point to 3.7%, suggesting minimal change in spread.
The number of Oregonians admitted to the hospital with COVID-19 also stayed roughly the same week over week, rising from 159 to 164.
ZIP codes for Medford recorded the most new cases last week, while parts of Washington County in the metro area and Coos County on the coast also saw more confirmed or presumed infections.

This Coos County ZIP code added 59 cases, raising its tally to 701. That’s the 83rd most in Oregon and 208th most per capita since the start of the pandemic.

This Marion County ZIP code added 51 cases, raising its tally to 3,413. That’s the most in Oregon and 31st most per capita since the start of the pandemic.
97123 Hillsboro
This Washington County ZIP code added 50 cases, raising its tally to 2,533. That’s the seventh most in Oregon and 51st most per capita since the start of the pandemic.
97305 Salem
This Marion County ZIP code added 46 cases, raising its tally to 3,002. That’s the fourth most in Oregon and 24th most per capita since the start of the pandemic.

This Washington County ZIP code added 36 cases, raising its tally to 1,683. That’s the 19th most in Oregon and 221st most per capita since the start of the pandemic.

This Marion County ZIP code added 36 cases, raising its tally to 1,960. That’s the 14th most in Oregon and 63rd most per capita since the start of the pandemic.
97401 Eugene
This Lane County ZIP code added 35 cases, raising its tally to 1,597. That’s the 23rd most in Oregon and 110th most per capita since the start of the pandemic.
